bio
A commanding amalgam of ambient indie art rock, driven by emotive vocals, haunting atmospheres, and gritty, poignant guitar. Red's raw contralto is reminiscent of Vic Chestnut while Sami creates a dark, primordial landscape with the simultaneous use of keyboard and percussion.
Red Moses and Sami Knowles met at a San Francisco house party in the fall of 2006. They didn't begin writing music together until three years later, when the economy crashed and their priorities took a major shift. Sami's passion for dance and african-influenced polyrhythms had been leading her toward playing the drums. Red wanted to strip back his approach to music-writing to emphasize the vocals, as he did when composing songs for college theater. The two perspectives came together, and a musical project was born. They've been making music and touring around the western US ever since.
They released their first EP in the summer of 2010. Their first full length album is slated for release in April 2012.
